Great Gravel Rides from Annemasse

The Salève and the Jura, two go-to gravel zones right next to Annemasse, no train required.

Salève

The start of the salève at Collonges-sous-salève is 40 minutes away from Annemasse, and to reach Monnetier-Mornex, another easier starting point is just a 30 minutes ride.

This ride makes you visit all of the east part of Salève, with an unforgettable view over the Léman Lake, Annecy Lake, and Mont Blanc.

After leaving the road on the gravel-path descent, the gradient is sometimes of -20% so skip this area and take the road if you do not feel confident. You can also take the direction of Annemasse instead of going to the Castle of Etrembières if you want to shorten the ride. For that, rejoin the road and turn right to Annemasse instead of following the path.

If you want to skip the ride up, you can also take the Cable car at Collongs-sous-Salève.

Contreforts du Jura

To rejoin Gex, or Thoiry, at the foot of Jura it is a 1 hour 30 minutes ride through Geneva.

This ride takes you to the Jura and offers a majestic view of the Léman lake and goes through forested area.

To shorten the ride, take the train from Annemasse and start it from Coppet or Geneva.

Loop to Yvoire by Nyon

From Nyon, a beautiful medieval city at the side of the lake, you can take a boat to rejoin any city around the lake, such as Yvoire, on the opposite side.

After taking the boat, you arrive in Yvoire and can do a Gravel loop around the city:

Going to Seyssel

This path leads to Seyssel and is a hilly alternative to the ViaRhona.

Going to Annecy

Annecy is iconic for its old city and lakeside views.

You can reach it easily by bike, from Annemasse.

A Tour around the Faucigny

Fillinges is at the beginning of the Faucigny area and the foot of the Vallée verte, and marks the end of the Geneva area.

It is situated a short 1 hour away from Annemasse.
